SERVICES
Restoration Works, Inc. is a unique national company that can accept sash from anywhere in the U.S. for restoration and reglazing with single or double glass in our restoration facility. Our 9,000 square foot facility was set up to handle large scale window restoration projects with 50 windows or more. Museums and certain other projects are an exception to the quantity limit, if museum quality work is required. We want to insure as much as possible that our American Heritage can be serviced and restored. We can take sash in all kinds of condition with parts missing, severe checking or dry rot and can restore the sash to its former beauty. Our conversions to insulating glass are very sensitively done and are not apparent. After our restoration process, the sash can receive a factory finish coating, either stained or painted on the interior, and primed and painted on the exterior.
Our restoration work completely restores the object we are working on. We truly maximize the life of the historic object. We feel we architecturally remanufacture the window because we disassemble the sash (most windows have loose joinery) check all parts for deteriorated wood, and can perform the full range of restoration techniques required. Our epoxy skills are well developed. We mix our own epoxy to different viscousities to address all deteriorated wood correctly. We use three rounds of epoxy restoration, structural, aesthetic and fine line. If dutchmans or custom milling of some window part is required we mill it ourselves. We feel these historic windows with their original growth forest wood and mortise and tenon joinery are good for at least another 100 years after going through our restoration program.
We can perform field restoration work within a 200 mile range of the City of Chicago. However, our main line of business and focus is restoring sash in our restoration facility for contractors, developers and owners from all over the United States. We also provide window kits that can be ordered to allow for ease of installation by other contractors in the field. These window kits vary from job to job but can include window parts, such as interior stop, parting bead, brickmold, copper clad chain, weatherstripping, hardware restoration and pully wheel restoration. We can provide any of these cut to fit the window, but slightly oversized for field fitting or they can be bought in bulk.
